THE STORY OF APRIL FOOL'S DAY
On this day in 1700, English
pranksters began popularizing the
annual tradition of fools day by
playing practical jokes on each
other. Although the day also
called "All fools day", has
beencelebrated for several
countries by different countries,
its extract origin remains a
mystery. Some historians speculate
the April fool day dates back to
1582, when France switched from
the Jullian calendar to the
Gregorian calendar as called for
by the council to trent in 1563.
People who were slow to get the
news are failed to recognise that
the start of the new year had
moved to 1st January and
continued to becelebrated it
during the last of March though 1
April became the but of jokes and
hooks . This included having paper
fish placed on their backs and
being referred to as" Poison" and "
Avril" ( April fish), said to
symbolise a young, easy caught
fish and a gullible person.
Historians also linked " April fool
day " to ancient festival such as
Hilarig, which wascelebrated in
Rome at the end of March and
involved people dressing up in
disguises. There's also speculation
that 'April Fool Day' was tried to
the vernal equinox or first day of
spring in the Northern
Hemisphere. When mother nature
fooled people with cleaning,
unpredictable weather. Inmodern
times, people have gone to great
lengths to creat elaborate April
Fool's Day hoaxes.
Newspaper, radio and T.V.
stations and websites have
participated in the April 1
tradition scores of clueless
customers requested sandwich.
