FIRST BATTALION OF SWARAJYA ARMY

Even when Shivaji was 7-8 years old,

Dadoji used to take him on tours of 

Pune state villages, let him meet 

people, know their problems and 

suggest solutions. He had been 

setting up Shivaji among 

masses as the future ruler.

That training was providing a great 

help on Mewar area tours. Wherever 

he went he created bonds of faithful 

young followers. Shivaji got that 

destroyed temples, rebuilt them to 

win the people's sentiments. 

Now most of the Deshmukhs 

became part of Swarajya plan.

Some were arrested and 

punished as they were with Swarajya.

One night, Shivaji collected his 

faithful followers in a cave 

near a temple, Pune. His young 

followers took an oath to 

dedicate their lives to the 

creation of swarajya.


There were given arms and 

training. It was the first 

battalion of swarajya army.
